Going German; clean, industrial and all aluminum with the Maurer & Wirtz Tabac (Original) in a #soap, #balm, #deo and #EdT!
TABAC ORIGINAL is a sophisticated composition fragranced with peppery-spicy notes and elegantly rounded off by exotic woods, musk, ambergris and a floral complex. An unmistakable fragrance with a discreet presence.
I realized I hadn't used (what should be) a staple in every shave den in too long... Tabac! My last couple of shaves have been with the cream, which is not as good (reviews here and here of those). I did an extensive (for the time) review of Tabac a while back with a more in-depth review follow-up as well. But I don't think it's really been that long, as sometimes I do a shave, even take the photo - but for whatever reason, don't post a SOTD or review. But the last shave posted with the soap was on February 17, 2017! Almost a year ago? No... Can't be.
Anyway, since I have a ton of #Tabac stuff (I always pick some up every time I'm in Germany) I went with a full 30s of loading with the lovely #Yaqi silvertip badger brush and set about lathering it in the #GTP scuttle. Yup... Lather bomb! As always. The soap has a thicker, slicker lather than the cream. The former isn't enough to merit a full uptick in the chart - but the latter is. Not that this is a bad thing; the lather has lots of cushion and a slick sheen in the sweet spot. Resulting face feel is quite good, but obviously not up to the top tier offerings these days. Regardless, Tabac soap is an excellent performer and one everybody should own. The razor for today was a #StandardRazors piece in "raw" aluminum (more like anodized) with a #PolSilver on shave three. Not exactly BBS, but above a DFS for today. Works for me!
A nice Friday shave with some great software in a unique scent that's passed the test of generations. If you haven't tried Tabac then you definitely should. It's a staple in Germany (and beyond) and well liked by many. The scent may not be everyone's cup of tea - but the performance and value is.
