A great Monday morning mow-down using the special edition Wholly Kaw Chypre Rose Concerto #soap, #balm and #aftershave toner!
I actually reviewed Chypre Rose Concerto extensively before, with a follow up review of Chypre Rose Concerto as well. So check those out for my take on the scent and performance. Today I used both the balm and aftershave in part, as an effort to extend the scent a bit, but it remains in the 2-4 hour range. That and I truly enjoy the balm. Like most truly good balms (e.g. Chatillon Lux) you only need the scantest amount. The resulting feel is divine and the container truly stands out.
Hardware for this Monday morning's shave required the #TimelessRazor in my custom "aggressive edition" with a titanium RazoRock Halo handle and a #PolSilver blade on shave five (technically the first shave, as I used the scalloped solid bar side as opposed to the usual open comb side). I find this side slightly less "aggressive" feeling than the open comb. Good for in-between or successive days, where the open comb might be too much. It doesn't get nearly the attention it deserves, since I usually use the open comb on Mondays and then switch over to my "mild edition" as that has a .68mm gap as opposed to a .95mm on this one. I'll make a point of using it more...
I also showed some love to my neglected #Dovo silvertip badger brush! I've been so engrossed in synthetic brushes these days, that I wanted to give it a spin to compare. As nice as synthetics can be, I'm of the opinion that a really nice badger brush is still the ultimate experience. I'll have to try a larger knot one of these days... The #GTP G12 scuttle did its usual great job in containing and keeping the lather nice and warm. I can't believe how much mileage I've gotten out of this thing. I've used it for almost every shave since August 2013. Using the average of 262 work days per year, multiplied by four years - that's over 1,000 shaves (best case)! Once you go scuttle - there's no going back.
A fantastic shave today, with truly wonderful software and hardware. Life's too short for shoddy stuff. I can't say enough good things about the latest offerings from #WhollyKaw.
