Barrister and Mann

Shaving Product Review - Barrister and Mann "Adagio"

Good morning, gents! The SOTD for today covers Barrister and Mann Adagio in the way of #soap and #aftershave! The key words are "cool green fruit!"

Officially described as having notes of lime, cherry, violet leaf absolute, lily of the valley, and a clean, sweet, floral, woody musk called Galaxolide (see: http://tinyurl.com/h49ft9x) - it does not disappoint, and fits the description above to a tee. Don't let the florals scare you off; it's definitely more fruity and green. Think of a cherry lime-aid. The florals add additional sweetness, complexity and round out the scent. In typical #BarristerMann fashion, this isn't a simple, one-dimensional scent! Finally, there's a touch of menthol in both the soap and aftershave to make a killer warm weather combo!

If you've seen my review of B&M Cologne Russe from Friday - the soap performance should come as no surprise... Also based on the glissant formulation (new this year) it's just a dream. Abundant thick, creamy lather with loads of cushion and glide that's quick to whip up and goes the duration. Absolutely top-tier stuff here. Post-shave face feel is equally plush, leaving your skin soft and supple.

A quick note about the packaging; it's still the older style translucent tub that we've all come to know and love with the more colorful labeling (in this case, a vinyl LP with green accents).

Also new this year is the Adagio aftershave. It smells just like the soap of course, but stronger - on the open it's much more "green" which dries down to a very light fruity/floral accord. It's probably one of the lightest fragrances coming from B&M and thus makes a great warm weather, all-around good choice. Light, clean and mentholated just enough to provide a refreshing experience. It should appeal to just about everyone out there; some B&M fragrances tend to be polarizing... Not this one, IMO.

Hardware for today's shave consisted of the #SOC brush and #Merkur Futur razor with a #PolSilver blade on shave three. I reach for the #BSB most these days, but today's software demanded something a little more... Organic.

To wrap it up, consider Adagio a great choice during the warmer months. The light scent won't weigh you down and fits perfectly to summer with its fresh, green and fruity approach with a refreshing kick of menthol. You could supplement with an aquatic, citrus or other green cologne if you'd like, but I find it great just the way it is. Less is more!
