Barrister and Mann

Shaving Product Review - Barrister and Mann "First Snow"

Yesterday we had about an inch of snow - a dusting - so it only seemed fitting to break out the re-release of a classic, Barrister and Mann First Snow #soap and #aftershave. Also know as "the gentleman's menthol."

This scent harkens back to February 2014, a full three years ago. There's not a whole lot to it, honestly - featuring notes of fir resting on a bed of soft leather with just enough menthol to complete the mental image of walk outside on a cold winter's day. I reviewed First Snow by #BarristerMann when it was first re-released at the end of November last year, so check that out for all the details. With the holidays and travel, I just hadn't had the chance to break it out again. Despite the scent profile and the obvious name - you can enjoy it all year long. Especially if you don't have the testicular fortitude for Arctique.

I decided to boost the signal a little with the application of Geir Ness by Laila (see full review here) as it has a nice woodsy base. Ironically, while yesterday's shave reminded me of EPCOT Center down in Walt Disney World - this one did too... As most people first learn of Geir Ness in the gift shop of the Norway Pavilion there.

Hardware for today included the #Mühle #R89 with a fresh #Feather blade. I don't usually use these blades except in the AS-D2 but decided to give it a go and see if it could help the razor deliver a more BBS finish... Alas, it didn't really help much. Great razor, but being mild and inoffensive, it's not a daily BBS machine. Which really, is fine with me for most workdays. Easy, breezy. The #BSB Shaving Brush did the fandango in the #GTP scuttle.

Great software; simple scent that's fit for the season(s). Glad to see the return of this "classic" scent.
