Shaving Product Review - Chiseled Face "Summer Storm"
Today's SOTD is part one of the #PetrichorShootout! The Rainstorm Rumble. The Petrichor Parallel. The Geosmin Gander... Chiseled Face Groomatorium's Summer Storm #soap and #aftershave!
I've done a review of #chiseledface Summer Storm before (http://tinyurl.com/ohlzqfo) so I won't get too deep into it here. I knew when I tried the samples then - that I wanted to go Biggie Size™ and I did, thanks to Mike Ramos who was passing his on.
Using my typical lather routine of 15s loading and a smidgen of water, the soap quickly developed an impressive amount of billowy lather. It wasn't super thick or creamy, but not in a bad way - just different... Very "soft" and gentle. I suspect using more product would fix that up right quick - just a matter of dialing it in. It was nicely cushioning and provided ample glide.
The aftershave is scented the same, but stronger and more complex, as you get all the notes - the soap was more earthy and stayed that way. It has a touch of menthol, just enough to let you know it's there. The aloe and glycerin left my face feeling very soft and supple; a little silky. If you're a fan of earthy scents, this would make an excellent pairing with PAA's Dirt soap!
The real star here is the scent! On open it's very earthy and somewhat ozonic - just like you'd imagine the opening of a rainstorm to smell like; that is - petrichor. As it dries down, you get a bit of pine and citrus while on the base it's more of a green fougére with some floral hints. The scent of fresh cut grass comes to mind throughout. Very nice!
The hardware today was the #BSB Shaving Brush and #Mühle #R89 razor, fitted with a #Feather blade on shave four. The #GTP scuttle kept the rainstorm under control.
There you have it! A very lovely set of software here in a fantastic scent... Very much a summer storm that shifts to a green fougére once the rain stops. Definitely a thumbs up! Tomorrow I will use PAA's La Tierra Mojada combo and compare.
