Shaving Product Review - K Shave Worx "Dark Power" and
Guy Laroche "Drakkar Noir"
Another take on a classic original fragrance by K Shave Worx - this time in the scent of Guy Laroche Drakkar Noir - coming in a #soap and #aftershave!
Much like my shave on Friday with Shaping Up soap and Brut original products - K Shave Worx has also released a line based on the Guy Laroche Drakkar Noir fragrance late last year, which was announced earlier. Much like Shaping Up I immediately had my eye on Dark Power because I already had a full suite of original product that was just calling out for a matching soap. Like I mentioned in Friday's SOTD, when it comes to clones I prefer as much of the real thing as possible.
Dark Power soap performs just like all the other soaps, and you can get a sense of that by clicking this: #KShaveWorx hashtag and checking those out. In short, it's a very good performer. The scent strength is a solid medium, perhaps a touch on the lighter side. The lather was a copious meringue, almost creamy consistency with ample slickness and decent residual for touch ups. How does the scent compare to the original? Unlike Shaping Up I found that Dark Power wasn't quite on point - it was ever so slightly different. That said, it was really the strength and the bite of the original that came up short. Otherwise, it's very close. Without over analyzing it, you'd immediately think of Drakkar Noir rest assured.
Hardware for this shave consisted of the #StandardRazors razor with a #PolSilver blade on shave three; providing a sublime, near BBS shave. The custom skull brush seemed a natural fit with a name like Dark Power so I just rolled with it - besides, I haven't used it in ages. The #GTP scuttle managed to keep all that energy contained and the suds warm... No worries!
This great scented product completes another set of software that desperately needed a soap. The other option would have been Wet Shaving Products Fougere Noire in the classic (vegain) Rustic Formula. I'd rather this one. The soap scent and performance does not disappoint. If you're a fan of the original, and classic scent of Drakkar Noir then you should find this offering a great complement (or substitute). I would strongly suggest this gift set for $42 (and the one I have, pictured) for the aftershave balm, deodorant and EdT.
