Shaving Product Review - Cold River Soap Works "Fall LE" and
I've reviewed #coldriversoap Fall LE before (http://tinyurl.com/oq8r848) so I won't get into it again... Long and short of it, this stuff is awesome. CRSW produces some of the nicest lather you'll find anywhere and the scents are lovely. Post-shave face feel is also outstanding thanks to an ingredient list that's truly top tier in the market (see below). In fact, it only competes with B&M and Saponificio Varesino, IMO (see my top five artisanal soaps here: http://tinyurl.com/pgj8w4y).
I went with Brut for two reasons today. The first reason is because I wanted to see just how good the skin food properties were of the CRSW soap, as Brut isn't exactly known for that (though on par with say, Aqua Velva). I'm happy to report that the soap really did provide exemplary face feel goodness. My face feels like I used a top notch aftershave or balm! What this means is that you can use this soap with pretty much anything, even simple brews like Fine or even CRSW's own - which don't really have a lot in the way of skin food. Pretty amazing, really. The reason is one the best ingredient lists of anything out there:
Raw, organic goat milk, food grade tallow, stearic acid, kokum butter, shea butter, glycerin, coconut oil, fragrance, castor oil, lanolin, avocado oil, sweet almond oil, vitamin e, tussah silk protein
The second reason I went with Brut is because I wanted a scent that won't stick around, at least very strongly - because I'm getting B&M Hallows later today... And you just know I'll be splashing that on!
There you have it! Two products at opposite ends of the scale, yet perfect together! The inspired fall scent of Fall LE chased by an aromatic fougére that is Brut. Face feel of the latter boosted by the former for a real top notch shave!
