Shaving Product Review - Dr. Jon's Shaving Soap Co. "Aphrodite" and
Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements "Otra"
I've talked about this experimental batch of #DrJonsSoapCo soap before (http://tinyurl.com/pe97j7w). While the scent is Aphrodite - black currant, rose, apple and pomegranate, the formula itself is new. has upped the slickness factor by a metric assload. I consider Dr. Jon's to be the slickest soaps out there... This one dials it up to 11. There's still some tweaking to be done, as the cushion and lather properties took a bit of a hit - but this is firmly under control... See what I did there? Yes, the firmness of the soap will also be improved! Can't wait for the next iteration!
The other part of the today shave today was #PAA Otra aftershave and deo. I did a review of it earlier (http://tinyurl.com/q2vyclk). The scent is overall kind of floral... As it dries down I definitely get a sense of fougére in the background. The mid notes feature white clover and sage and the base is a well-rounded, complex floral - definitely getting the rose notes. Nice to have the full suite of this Al Fin*-esque (sister) scent, including soap, deo and aftershave.
A very nice shave today; very uplifting and floral - as I had a motive. I renewed my annual membership to the arboretum/gardens and I'll be heading there at lunch for some long-overdue photography. Even wore a pink polo (which you can see reflected in the tin and brush). Nothing attracts bees, butterflies and babes like a man that can embrace his softer side. Shave on!
