Shaving Product Review - Barrister and Mann "Dickens"
What the Dickens is up with this SOTD?! That's right - Barrister & Mann Dickens just in time for the holidays!
I covered the scent in a previous #MailCall but let's recap:
From the description, it's described as a sort of holiday cookie scent with notes of cherry, black pepper, nutmeg, cardamom, and lemon - making for a spicy, sweet and festive scent. No lie! It smells exactly like spiced holiday oatmeal cookies that you may know. It's not an overly sweet, gingerbread or weird dough scent... No, this is much more interesting. I can see why there's no matching aftershave for this scent. Not that I wouldn't wear it myself, but...
In practice, the scent was very, very nice. Different, but not offensive. Medium in strength. Spicy, fruity, but with a well-rounded vibe. You get the cherry/lemon but it's tempered equally by the pepper, cardamom and nutmeg. Very nicely done! Performance of course, lives up to the B&M standard of profuse, dense, cushioning lather that made shaving a joy today. Worth noting is that it is the usual formula, and not the glissant variant used in Le Grand Chypre. The container is the usual "special edition" translucent PET - with a unique and cool label.
So what aftershave to pair with this soap, since it doesn't have a matching one? One came immediately to mind - and worked out perfectly... Lavanille. A bit darker, stronger - but who can argue with a vanilla-infused, leathery and elegant scent like this? Lovely face feel and a scent that really, I could just sniff all day.
Hardware today was the #Merkur #Futur razor with a #PolSilver blade on shave five. End of the road and time for a cleaning and a fresh blade! The #SOC brush made quick work of lather building in the #GTP scuttle ... The warmth of which made the bathroom smell like fresh-baked, spicy holiday cookies!
Such a lovely shave today. Festive. I really dig the scent of #BarristerMann Dickens soap, and it's a great holiday option. It will be produced until the end of the year, so you can take your time in deciding... But I might not want to pass this one up to keep stashed away.
