Going with "beefy citrus" by way of Grooming Dept Narajna de Sangre #soap and Tabac Gentle Men's Care #aftershave and #EdT.

Growing throughout the Mediterranean region and beyond, the blood orange is a sweet, seasonal slice of heaven. Now you can enjoy the aroma year round with this Naranja de Sangre.

Narajna de Sangre officially has a singular note of blood orange. Thus obviously not a complex scent, it doesn't need to be. The scent of blood oranges is trés tasty, and of course - goes with anything remotely citrusy for the finish. The rather poor labeling doesn't help much in telling you what's inside... Which is confusing enough as it is. This base is beef tallow (no duck fat, lamb tallow and certainly not vegan). At any rate, the soap made for a thick, slick and protective lather with excellent resulting face feel. Long and short of it is neither the scent nor the performance are lacking. Scent strength is just below a medium; the typical #groomingdept soaps generally tend to be a bit stronger.

The fragrance of #Tabac Gentle Men's Care is orange, pear and ozone notes on top, with lavender, cardamom and violet leaves in the middle and finally, sandalwood, ambergris and cashmeran making up the base. It smells nothing like the original yet has a similar vibe. It's a truly European sort of men's scent... If that makes any sense. The fresh, citrusy open was what I was after. Using both the aftershave and EdT today, it made fore a nice finish to the shave.

Hardware for today consisted of the fabulous #TataraRazors Masamune razor with the open comb base plate and a fresh #PolSilver blade, alongside this equally exquisite #WildWestBrushworks brush rocking a 24mm BOSS knot. The #GTP scuttle of course, kept the lather all nice and warm.

As confusing as #groomingdept releases are, when it comes to the bases... One thing is for sure - the soap performance is phenomenal. From simpler scents such as today's to other, more complex scents, they're generally all pretty nice. I'm a sucker for citrus, so this one was a no-brainer. Being a simpler scent, it matches to a lot of post-shave products with minimal effort.
