Dr. Jon's

Shaving Product Review - Dr. Jon's Shaving Co. "Savannah Sunrise"

Ahhh, the smell of a fine Georgia orchard, with the scent of peaches especially heavy in the air... That is Dr. Jon's Savannah Sunrise #soap and #aftershave!

I've actually reviewed the soap and reviewed the aftershave (separately) before. Today, as it was then and always - is a great performing soap and aftershave with a positively unique and delightful scent. You might think it's just peaches, but it's a lot more than that. Yes, the top note is all about peaches. More so than the soap, which has a stronger gardenia component. After application, the peach fades a little and allows the more floral elements to come out, which include jasmine, orange blossom and honeysuckle. Truly lovely for those warmer days of spring and summer, or as a boost during the lousier months of the year.

Hardware today consisted of the #StandardRazors razor sporting the usual #PolSilver blade, today on shave four. The #SOC brush made quick work of loading the soap which has, after a year, become rather hard. You may recall that with the previous formula (this is the original) that the consistency was just über soft and troublesome for many. Between additional curing and drying over this time, it's now fairly solid. It still lathers as it always has, though. The #GTP scuttle saw to that, and kept it all warm for the duration.

I'll have to try out the new formulation one of these days and write up a review of it; it's improved in nearly every metric. But this ol' classic stuff is still outstanding and was ahead of its time. One of the slickest soap bases you'll find, with some fairly unique scent takes - especially this one. Sure, Tim's Greek Peach was big, but unfortunately can't be had anymore. It too sought to layer peach with other fun notes, but was decidedly more fruity, rather than the floral that is #drjonssoapco Savannah Sunrise. If the notes sound at all interesting to you (and like I said, it smells just lovely) I can't recommend it (or other Dr. Jon's wares) enough.
