Shaving Product Review - Dr. Jon's Shaving Co. "Arctic Hydra" and
How to Grow a Moustache "The Beach"
Today's SOTD is all about SUMMER! Spent a good bit o' the weekend lazing in the pool as it was 86ºF out - getting my tan on... What better way to relive it on another Monday morning than this combo?!
I've got summer on the brain as I have a week off next week and I'm headed to the lake house up on Lake Winnipesaukee, NH - right next door to Squam Lake, where On Golden Pond was filmed...
The software consisted of Dr. Jon's new Arctic Hydra #soap, which I reviewed last week (http://tinyurl.com/pet5z6x) and PAA The Beach #aftershave. The cool of the pool water (currently 76ºF) for the shave, followed by the scent of suntan lotion (and more) after... Perfect! The chill of the 'Hydra and 'Beach lasted at least a half hour after the shave and was refreshing. The scent of the latter I can count on until tomorrow(!) as I also used the matching #deo .
The Beach was my first HTGAM (now #PAA) product and what got me hooked! It's still one of my all-time favorites. Totally unique, spot-on scent... Sun tan lotion, sand and surf are all represented in this juice. The addictive face feel of alum and menthol cinch the deal, and is my favorite combo in any aftershave.
The hardware is interesting; I used my #Mühle #R41 with one of the new Bulgarian #PolSilver blades I got a while back... And just like in the #Merkur #Futur (which I used exclusively last week) this blade just make your razor that much smoother! I also used this combo on Saturday night. I do believe that this blade could make my R41 a daily driver - something other blades pretty much ruled out since they tend to run too hot for that. Sweeeeet!
The silvertip badger whipped the excellent suds into a frenzy while the kept things together. I chose the #Dovo because it's a nice soft brush and holds lots of water (and heat). I figured it'd make for nice lathering of the insanely soft that is #drjonssoapco. Alas, hot water instantly goops this stuff! So I'm letting my tin air out for the day to try and firm it up a little. I prefer my soaps a little harder, but as long as you proceed lightly... All good.
Awesome shave for a stinkin' Monday.
