Shaving Product Review - Mickey Lee Soapworks "Through the Woods"
Over the river and Through the Woods... #Soap and #aftershave by Mickey Lee Soapworks Through the Woods that is! Not just a Christmas/holiday scent.
I've reviewed Through the Woods before but to be honest, I'm a little surprised that it only has an entry from back in November of last year. I used it for several days back then while traveling, however. At any rate, I knew it's been a little while, so this is what I grabbed this morning. It'd be easy to call it a "simple holiday scent" of pine, but not entirely accurate. Granted, pine is the predominant note but the whole picture is that it opens with a crisp, fresh blend of pine, fir, cedar and eucalyptus warmed with the sweet, spicy notes of gingerbread. The scent strength is quite decent, smells awesome, but alas - it doesn't last too long. This isn't the fault of #MickeyLeeSoaps but the nature of pine scents. Just the way it is. I usually pair it with something woodsy, like Geir Ness or L'Occitane en Provence Eau des Baux (as I did today) for longevity.
Hardware included the #Merkur #Futur razor with a #PolSilver blade on shave five (and set to three)... For a super close "Monday morning shave" with a weekend's worth of growth. Not only is Monday one of my favorite days to shave (having needed one for at least a day or two) but my face is rested and shaving some decent growth down makes for close shaves - and the Futur makes quick, efficient and BBS work of it. The #SOC seemed a natural fit to the theme, and the #GTP scuttle kept the suds contained and warm.
If you're a fan of pine scents, then you already know that they're not just for the holidays. Just like Barrister and Mann First Snow (see full review here) I like to use it year-round. While fleeting in longevity, it's a great, clean and manly scent. Bonus is that you can they layer a longer-lasting cologne on top of it. Performance of this MLS software is great so I can definitely recommend it. And this seasonal scent is still available!
