Barrister and Mann

Shaving Product Review - Barrister and Mann "Cologne Russe"

Today's SOTD features the very sophisticated, royal scent of Barrister and Mann Cologne Russe #soap and #aftershave combo. We might all be hearing a little more Russian soon; might as well smell the part. Da comrade?

Cologne Russe is a throwback to a scent created by the House of #Guerlain for the Russian Royal Family and discontinued in the early twentieth century. It features notes of lemon, bergamot, petitgrain, and herbs dry down to violet, rose, bay, and amber. The scent is distinctly warmer than most other cologne-type fragrances, owing largely to its inclusion of castoreum, benzoin, and vanilla. It truly smells as good as it sounds, and is quite unlike most scents you may have encountered before. But I've reviewed Cologne Russe before quite extensively, so I won't repeat too much here. Definitely check that out, as it covers this first standard offering/product to receive both a glissant reformulation as well as the new packaging.

Hardware for the day included the black #StandardRazors razor with a fresh #PolSilver blade. A real shame that PolSilver blades are being discontinued as they're my favorite. I had recently ordered 100 more after my first batch of 50 or so ran dry... But upon getting confirmation, I ordered another 400 - for a total of 500! And I still might get more for the vault. The #BSB Shaving Brush exploded the sweet, sweet lather in the #GTP scuttle for the duration.

I need to use this scent more often. It's just too damn good. And there's no denying the increased slickness of the glissant base. The packaging is also pretty much the top of the game in art, execution and solidity. Such a class act, with performance to match. And yeah, that scent! If you haven't tried it, do not miss out.
